FAQs

Wantirna Jetbacks Basketball Club (the Club) competes in the Knox Basketball Junior Domestic competition. This competition is made up of 16 domestic clubs from around the Knox area.
Players aged between 5 years and 23 years can join the Club and will be put into a team based on their age, gender and skill level.

Register to play

Register to join a team. 

 

Competition runs for two seasons, the summer and the winter season.

Summer season runs from November to April

Winter season runs from May to October each year. 

​​

Each season has 16 to 18 games plus finals.

Costs

Fees for Winter 2024 are $230 for U8-U16 and $190 for U19-U23, which includes a $5 PlayHQ Card Processing fee.

U19s now have a reduced fee due to limited training courts, they are not likely to be able to train for the winter season. 

Training and game times

Training

Teams usually train for an hour once per week at venues and times determined by the Club. This is based on coach and venue availability. 

​

Training sessions are held Monday to Friday with starting times from 4pm -8:30pm.

​

Current training venues include State Basketball Centre, Rowville Community Centre, Rowville Secondary College West Campus and Dandenong Stadium.  

​

Players are expected to wear their Wantirna Jetbacks training singlet to training.

Games

​

To find out when and where you are playing, check PlayHQ each Wednesday when fixtures are updated. 

All games are played on the weekend.

 

Times and venues of the games will change each week. 

 

Under 8s to under 16s teams  - Play on a Saturday 

Under 19s to under 23s teams  - Play on a Sunday afternoon.

 

It is expected that all players attend training and the game. If you are unable to attend either sessions, you will need to communicate this to your coach.

What to bring to training

It is important to bring to training:

  • a basketball 

  • a water bottle.

 

Basketballs vary in size depending on the age of the player.

  • Boys and Girls Under 8’s and 10's use a size 5 basketball

  • Boys Under 12's and Under 14's use size 6 basketball

  • Girls Under 12's up use a size 6 basketball 

  • Boys Under 16's boys up use a size 7 basketball

Players should wear their Wantirna Jetbacks training singlet to training. 

Uniforms

You will need to wear your reversible playing uniform to the game and a reversible training singlet to training. 

 

The Club is unable to take singlet number requests. Player numbers are allocated by the Club to avoid two players with the same singlet number being placed within the same team.

Venues

Games are played within the Knox community, with the majority of games played at State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South and Knox Basketball Stadium in Boronia.
